Relaxing at Kambaku in the Timbavati. Not something we see that often.
The Best Times to Visit Kambaku Lodges.
Dry Winter Months (May to September): Experience exceptional wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources, making sightings more frequent and memorable.
Lush Summer Greenery (October to April): While it’s the wet season, the landscape is vibrant and birdwatching is at its peak. You might also be lucky enough to experience one of the afternoon thunderstorms.
Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or a nature lover, the lodge offers year-round opportunities to witness the wonders of the wild.
Garonga Safari Co recently introduced three magnificent cheetah to the 27 000 hectare Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve. Witness their first bound into their new home, a heart-stirring moment where grace meets the wilderness. LINK
The legend of the Coucal begins with a tale from long ago, during a severe drought in the African bush. The animals gathered to discuss their plight and decided to appeal to the gods for help
In response, the gods bestowed upon the Coppery-tailed Coucal the gift of calling out to summon the rain. From that day forward, whenever the coucal sang its iconic song, rain would soon follow, bringing relief to the animals and the parched land.
Over time, this legend intertwined with the fact that the coucal's call often precedes rainfall, leading to the bird being known as the "rainbird" across many African cultures.
While the bird's call itself doesn't bring rain, its association with impending rain has earned it a place in folklore as a harbinger of rain.
