The UK trade were out in force this month - either in person or on social media - trying to get the government to understand our predicament and we salute all those that took part. We now just have to continue to wait patiently for the opening up of travel.

Bernie never sits still – he is always looking at how to make Garonga even better for his loyal following. This is proven time and time again by his 5 star rating and Traveller’s Choice Award on TripAdvisor.
For Bernie it is all about how to ensure that guests really do enjoy a safari for the soul (and all included in the rate!). This could be a night under the stars sleeping high up in the sleep out deck, a relaxing star bath or romantic bush bath. All this on top of an incredible big Five Game Experience.
Now with the addition of MCH Private Tented Camp, Garonga Safari Co is complete and Bernie’s dream has been realised.

Did you know that it can take a giraffe up to one minute to swallow its food thanks to that long neck?
The best time for a safari is during the winter months, and the key reason for this is that there is less foliage, and the animals are generally easier to see. The mornings and evenings may be a bit chilly, but day time temperatures at Garonga are perfect in the winter. According to ranger, Sophie "This is undoubtedly the best time of year to see bush-babies, genets, civets, porcupines and all of the other wonderful creatures that move around after the sun has set.

South Africa has had to rely almost completely on the local market over the last 16 months, so hosting local soap stars on the train recently was a real coup for The Blue Train marketing team.
Last week the train went up to the Kruger for it's annual scheduled Safari and members of the cast from The River, where able to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Mpumalanga from the luxury of The Blue Train.
The Kruger itinerary includes two nights on board, two game drives and a bush dinner. For more information, click on this LINK.
