Refurbishment complete
Kambaku Safari Lodge has recently completed a closure for upgrades, with air-conditioning now installed throughout and brand new flooring laid across the lodge. We are expecting updated photography shortly and will add this to the image folder as soon as it arrives — watch this space.

Rebranding & contract update
There is significant news from MalaMala. As of 25 March 2026, the property has rebranded as the Tengile MalaMala Collection — bringing together five distinctive lodges and camps along the Sand River in the Greater Kruger under focused family management. This exciting new partnership between the community and the Saad family marks a new chapter for this beautiful collection. You can explore the new website.
Please note that as a result of these changes, our contract with MalaMala comes to an end on 2 May 2026. From that date, your point of contact for all Tengile MalaMala enquiries will be:

The bush looks completely different on foot. Your field of view drops, every sound matters more, and the guide's hand signal to stop carries a weight it never does from the vehicle.
Our mid-morning walks run after the first game drive and breakfast when the bush has warmed up and the animals are settling into the shade. On foot, you move slowly and you notice things: the age of a track, the direction a dung beetle is rolling, the alarm call of a Fork-tailed Drongo that tells you something else is nearby.
It's not about ticking off big animals — though encounters do happen. It's about understanding the ecosystem at ground level, with a guide who can read it in real time. Most guests say it changes how they see everything else during the rest of their stay.
Walking safaris are optional and led by our qualified field guides. Closed shoes, neutral colours, and a willingness to move quietly are all you need.
