I have always enjoyed going to Indaba, and I have been to a few (won’t say how many), but in recent years the show seemed to lose its relevance.
After two years of no shows at all, I decided to go back, but only allocated a day – and it was great to be back and to see some of the familiar faces again.
The mood at the show was upbeat and many exhibitors found it to be worthwhile. The organisers say that it was ‘a resounding success’. The UK market was not terribly well represented, so those of us who rely on this market would probably not use the word ‘resounding’.
SAT London arranged three fam trips, one doing the West Coast, the second Madikwe and the third group visited KZN.
We were happy to be able get involved in the KZN trip and to showcase Ghost Mountain Inn, and the wonderful activities available from this special property. We also took the opportunity to show the group around Sala Beach House.
Sala Beach House, opening in June 2022, is a boutique 10-bedroom hotel near Ballito, just north of Durban.
The main house features 4 guest rooms and 3 Suites with 180-degree sea views. A private villa with its own swimming pool has 3 rooms for families or guests wanting their own space. There will be 3 pools on site and a spa. The ambience is intended to offer guests a relaxed, coastal feel centred on wellness and feeling good. Guests will be able to unwind and feel right at home with professional and authentic five-star service. The property leads onto a small swimming-friendly beach with its own lifeguards. A protected tidal pool of about 90m long offers an array of marine life. Beyond that, a hole in the wall leads to some secluded coves to explore the rocky shores.
Nearby are a variety of activities, from snorkelling, surfing, deep sea fishing and micro lighting to golf. Sala is just 20 minutes north of King Shaka Airport and is a great beach option to combine with safaris in the Zululand reserves, 3 hours away.
I popped in for a drink, and I was completely blown away by the setting. The rooms are going to be beautiful and the location perfect pre or post safari and battlefields. Don’t just stay a night, three nights minimum, but a week would be ideal.
