Come and enjoy the Timbavati when Life Explodes into Colour

January and February in Timbavati hit that sweet spot. The brutal December heat has eased off, and the bush responds by putting on the show of the year.

Everything’s in bloom. Marula trees are heavy with golden fruit, wild figs hang thick from the branches, and flame lilies add splashes of orange across the landscape. It’s a photographer’s dream, but you’ll spend more time just staring than actually taking pictures.

This is prime time for bird watching. The migrants have all arrived wearing their best breeding plumage – European bee-eaters darting through the air, carmine bee-eaters nesting in noisy colonies along the riverbanks, paradise flycatchers trailing their long white tails. The dawn chorus is something else entirely.

Baby season is in full swing. Impala lambs are bouncing around everywhere, elephant calves are splashing happily in every muddy waterhole, and lion cubs are tumbling over each other in whatever shade they can find. Even the smaller animals have joined in – ground squirrels with tiny copies of themselves, monkey troops with babies clinging tight to their mothers.

The rains have worked their magic. Dams are full and gleaming, seasonal rivers are actually flowing, and the whole landscape has that lush green look that only comes after good summer rains.

There’s an energy here that’s hard to describe. Everything feels more alive, more present. You can sense it in the way animals move, hear it in the constant bird chatter, smell it in the rich earth and blooming trees.

This is Timbavati at its absolute best – when nature decides to celebrate and Kambaku are enhancing this with their Stay 4 Pay 3 offer.
