MalaMala is an evolving story designed to create memories at different points in time. Those memories from the 1960’s will differ beyond belief with those from the 2020’s in this new “instragrammable” world. Now it is not just about the wildlife but it is about the whole experience from the people, the food, the service, the community and how this all weaves together to evolve into what makes memories today.
This cannot be experienced more than at the newly renovated Rattrays Camp. The main building has been opened up and the colour palate lightened. The flow from the indoor to the outdoor space is seamless. The service is personal and attentive without being intrusive and the food and drink of a premium standard. An example of this is at sundowners when charcuterie boards and cheese boards are bought out along with guests personal drink of choice. Rattrays has raised the bar for the luxury Big Five Safari Experience.
Not content to stop there however there is more …. highlighted below we are showcasing what is currently underway and a little reminder about a few things that can sometimes get forgotten about.
- MalaMala have just taken delivery of 6 new Land Cruisers
- The Junior Ranger programme is currently being redesigned under the watchful eye of one of the experienced rangers, Victoria, who was a school teacher in a previous life.
- An enhanced ranger training programme is in place focusing on the holistic approach to the safari which incorporates the Big Five, birding, fauna and the other attractions that brings the bush to life.
- All of the rhino on the MalaMala reserve have been dehorned to protect them from poachers, but the horn grows back a little each year. From April – September MalaMala will be putting in place a dehorning (for new rhino on the reserve) and a re-shaving. Further info to follow on how guests can get involved in this very unique and special wildlife conservation experience.
And – Don’t Forget:
MalaMala has a dedicated single room with a queen sized bed with no single supplement.
MalaMala Camp has a wheelchair accessible room with an adapted bathroom and a standard bathroom plus the option for a third person carer as well.
