Next week Ethos and Kenya Airways will be taking a group of tour operators out to see the Zanzibar Serena Inn and the two Serena safari lodges in the Selous Game Reserve; Mivumo River Lodge and Selous Luxury Camp.
To get a feel for what the group might encounter in the Selous I contacted the lodges General Managers and asked them if they could update me on any wildlife spotted around the camps recently.
Nickson at Selous Luxury Camp sent me some great pictures of a family of elephants (above) that sauntered into camp last week. He went on to tell me how the elephants had returned to camp last night followed by some lions who had taken an interest in the baby elephant, leaving Nickson trapped in his house for the night. Fortunately the calf survived the night and Nickson was freed in the morning.
The Selous camps see a lot of honeymooners from the UK and the loving feeling seems to have spread to these amorous lions who were spotted between the two camps enjoying their own honeymoon.
