There are many reasons I love working in travel.\u00a0 Not only are the people in our “travel trade community” fantastic – but planning holidays is one of the true joys in life! And where better to promote than Africa – my birthplace and passion.\u00a0 The other perk is that sometimes I get to travel myself and stay at amazing places – like Tanzania and Zanzibar!<\/p>\n

In March this year Ethos and Planet Destinations joined forces and Sophie and I jointly hosted a group of 9 agents\/operators on a fantastic fam trip to one of the remotest game reserves in Tanzania \u2013 The Selous, followed by 2 days of beach bliss on the exotic spice island of Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

Our group included\u00a0 Shelley Phillips (Africa Collection), Anthony Bowler (Virgin Holidays), Abby Cherry (Trailfinders),\u00a0 Melissa Pereira (Infinity\/Flight Centre), Jeanette Redshaw (Mahlatini), Harriet Spicer (Hayes & Jarvis),\u00a0 Gavin Dixon (Freedom Destinations), Jenn Hillyar (Tropical Sky) and Prity Meisuria (Alpha UK)<\/p>\n

We travelled with Ethiopian Airlines and stayed at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel, Serena Mivumo River Lodge and Bluebay Beach Resort . We also enjoyed a lunch stop at Zanzibar Serena Hotel and a guided walking tour of historical Stone Town.<\/p>\n

Highlights included an all-day safari in the Selous with a picnic lunch stop at the scenic Lake Tagalala and a galawa dhow race to the coral reef and back (although I must confess to being rather green around the gills)\u00a0 and an unforgettable seafood beach barbeque at Bluebay.<\/p>\n
