Garonga\u2019s setting creates a real wow factor on arrival. Whether it is because you feel completely immersed in the bush at Little Garonga, are bowled over by Safari Camp\u2019s river front and waterhole setting or speechless at MCH\u2019s panoramic views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without a doubt, Bernie has strived hard to create camps that just work. Everything runs seamlessly, with incredibly professional, but at the same time, personable and friendly staff. This in turn results in guests that immediately relax and are enveloped in Garonga\u2019s mantra – \u201cSafari for the Soul.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A traditional safari day can allow for quite a bit of down time whereby guests can relax by the pool with a cool drink, or (my favourite) take a midday day nap in the most comfy of beds. In addition, yoga mats are available in every room to allow guests independent practice on their decks or at the yoga Sala. If guided yoga is required then this can also be arranged as Steph, the Hospitality Manager is also a yoga teacher. The spa Sala is available for a range of incredibly affordable treatments at a very high standard. A massage is something I am always willing to try out and it did not disappoint!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At Garonga, to really feed your soul and restore the balance, Bernie has taken things a little further. He has incorporated a range of activities under the stars that guests can enjoy at no extra charge, subject to availability. Once the sun goes down and you have finished your game drive, guests can do as I did and venture out for a star bath. As the water gently cascades and the night lights twinkle in the darkness, I ran my bath, added relaxing bath salts and sunk into the most enormous tub on the edge of the bush. If you are brave enough (I was for all of 2 minutes!), turn the light off and soak in the darkness, save for the candles, marvelling at nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If this is not for you then why not try the sleep out deck instead. I was dropped off here to enjoy sundowners with friends first. They then left to return to the camp leaving me to slowly drink my second G&T, enjoy the dinner that had been packed for me and finally to snuggle down in the enormous bed under the stars. Cocooned in the softest of duvets and looking up through the mosquito net, I took in that wonderful African night sky. Never one to forego creature comforts you will be pleased to know that there is a fully functioning toilet and sink as well! The next morning, after a cup of tea and biscuits on my deck, my guide and vehicle came to pick me up and start the morning game drive. What an adventure and all included in the rate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
