Ethos has deliberated a lot over the last few years about the benefits of individual properties exhibiting at consumer shows. How do you track the success of such shows and how do you determine which ones to do?
On arrival in Cape Town we were met by the lovely Melissa and Mohamed from Ilios Travel who welcomed us to the Mother City and took us on a brief orientation tour. The weather was amazing with only a slight cool breeze and clear blue skies –
I have just had the good fortune of a few days touring Cape Town and the Garden Route with a charming and very entertaining journalist from Ireland - Paul Hopkins. Upon leaving Cape Town airport we were whisked off in comfort to Steenberg in Constantia. This is a hotel that I had stayed in previously and had very fond memories of.
The meal at Mange Tout was amazing. We had some incredible food on this trip, but this meal was probably the most memorable – especially the Chocolate Fondant!
Ethos Marketing in conjunction with South African Airways have organised an afternoon of tea and scones at one of Britain’s most luxurious hotels, South Lodge Country House Hotel in West Sussex.
OK so you’re staying at Steenberg and you’ve gorged on the delicious offerings at Catharina’s Restaurant and Bistro Sixteen82 but you can’t come all the way to the Cape and not experience some of the other superb eateries in the area.
Despite its gracious five star boutique hotel, two great restaurants, luxury spa and championship golf course Steenberg is first and formost a farm, the oldest in the Constantia Valley, and has been producing wine since 1695.
The other restaurant at Steenberg is of course the award winning Catharina’s Restaurant, named after Steenbergs founder Catharina Ras, and with the inventive and talented Executive Chef Garth Almazan at the helm you can be sure of a dining experience that will be long remembered.
We’re starting the Tasty Africa Campaign with the first and some say the most important meal of the day…. breakfast. For the ultimate eggs & bacon I’d go to Steenberg’s Bistro Sixteen82 where they serve the most amazing bacon. Here Executive Chef Brad Ball explains just what makes it so special.
Over the next few weeks the Ethos blog will be on a mission to make your tummy rumble, mouth water and taste buds tingle as we go on a foodie journey from Cape Town to Mozambique.
