In partnership with EleCollection, Machaba are proud to contribute to a powerful recycling initiative aimed at reducing plastic pollution in our natural environments around Hwange National Park.
Through this collaboration, we separate and drop off plastic waste from our camps, which is then transformed into Plasrok, a sustainable building material that turns harmful waste into practical solutions. This initiative diverts plastic from landfills and landscapes and helps build stronger communities.
The threat of plastic pollution in wilderness areas is very real. In regions like ours, where elephants and other wildlife roam freely, discarded plastic is more than an eyesore; it’s a deadly hazard. Heartbreaking evidence has emerged of elephants with stomachs full of plastic, leading to severe health problems and, in some cases, death. By participating in this initiative, we are taking an active stand against this environmental threat and doing our part to preserve the wild spaces we call home.
