Blue Flag beaches are some of the best in the world and Cape St Francis beach can now lay claim to this coveted status. This international accreditation ensures that visitors can be confident with the water quality, the access for all, and that it meets high environmental and international sustainability standards. In line with this, Cape St Francis Resort will be looking to add a new activity to ensure that their guests can really make the most of this glorious beach. A beach set up package will be trialled shortly and once it is up and running, we will share it with you.
The Blue Sea however has always been there for guests to enjoy, but instead of just taking in the stunning views or taking a dip how about getting out on the ocean and really exploring what she has to offer on an eco cruise or a deep sea fishing trip.
Cape St Francis work with the wonderful Harry, a professional international guide with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He has a wonderful rapport with families as well as elderly and seasoned travellers. His enthusiasm is infectious and his way of communicating is very professional.

Ocean cruises generally last an hour to an hour and 15 minutes depending on what you encounter while out in the Bay of St Francis. Harry’s personality and care for people shine through as he intelligently shares his love for nature and the intricate balance that exists in the ecosystem in the bay. He also shares the history, fishing culture and interesting anecdotal stories and legends of the area with all those who cruise out on this incredible ocean experience. Guests often spot dolphins, otters, seals, whales, birds and the elusive endangered African penguin to mention a few. Harry does not promote boat based whale watching as it harasses the visiting pods of mothers and calves but they are often passed en route resulting in undeliberate encounters where Harry endeavours not to frighten them out of the bay. Whales do however on many occasions come to investigate what boats do and teach their calves about danger. Their space is always respected and they are given room to move. This is truly a wonderful eco wildlife experience where memories are created and experiences shared.
The half day deep sea fishing trip is one of a kind with all equipment provided, tuition and lots of fish and fun. This half day excursion sees you on a 4-5 hour deep sea fishing trip from areas like the water tower of Aston Bay to the lighthouse and wild side of Cape St Francis, going where the fish are. You can keep what you catch or release after a photo, as you choose. If you keep your fish then you can take it back to Cape St Francis Resort and they will cook it for your dinner! How amazing to let people know you are enjoying the fish you caught yourself!

This fishing trip is not just about catching fish, it is also about taking away with you a deeper connection with the ocean and life over wastage. Ocean education in the most fun way possible!
