The lodge’s facilities include a swimming pool with comfortable loungers for soaking up the African sun, a well-stocked library, curio shop, dining room, lounge and bar. Massages are also offered. Whilst it is tempting to just soak up the peace and tranquillity here, there are lots of activities on offer to keep one busy! The reserve’s blend of savannah, wetlands and mountains is home to the Big Five game, cheetah, 15 species of antelope and over 420 bird species. The highly-skilled team of rangers and trackers at the lodge offer fantastic guided game drives and bush walks – but this is where Amakhosi offers something truly unique! The opportunity (in season) to go “frogging” or on a “micro safari” – in the pursuit of insects and other creepy crawlies! They also offer overnight walking safaris, which is quite rare. A Traditional Zulu Kraal is also onsite where cultural dancing can be enjoyed.

IBANDLA BUSH CAMP is situated on the Banks of the Mkuze River gorge, in a remote area of the reserve, and offers an authentic rustic bush experience for groups of up to eight guests. The two houses that make up the camp blend in perfectly with their natural surroundings and accommodate up to four guests in two en suite bedrooms. Camp activities include early morning and late afternoon safaris, allowing guests the opportunity to observe the Big Five either on foot or in a game drive vehicle, all under the guidance of highly experienced and qualified game rangers. Staying at Ibandla Camp also offers a wonderful opportunity to discover and enjoy traditional South African cuisine prepared on an open fire. The real Africa…
