Amakhosi Newsletter – September 2009 Vol 13
NEWS FROM OUR PRIVATE KINGDOM
Dear Amakhosi friends and supporters.
Spring has sprung, and so too has our new website. We are delighted to advise that our new site has gone LIVE and would like to invite you to visit us at www.amakhosi.com.
The main objective behind the new site was to make it more interactive and user-friendly for you. We now offer virtual tours as well as a blogging site. If you visit the gallery, you will see we have stunning new pictures and the media room is full of useful information on the lodge as well as current press clippings. We have also included a cross section of 4 of the most used file viewer download options. We have added a guest comments page, and encourage our guests to give us their feedback on their stay, so we can up-load it onto the site.
We hope you enjoy this website as much as we do!
Our blog is also weekly updated with news, please visit this as often as you like!

BUSH BULLETIN
Summer is definitely on its way back, as Spring is in full swing with temperatures in excess of 35 degrees. The evenings are beautiful with fresh bush smells and a certain cleanness in the air. So-much-so, that the lodge is once again serving dinners outside on the veranda deck overlooking the river. Head Chef Lauren Lentz, has embraced the new season with a new, refreshing Spring menu, offering a culinary journey of note. Dining at the lodge promises to be as much of an adventure as that of the safaris.
Many of the acacias, wild pears and sneeze woods are in full bloom, bringing dramatic colour splashes of contrast against that of the bush. With such a perfect backdrop, we are delighted to advise that the lodge will be hosting a spectacular wedding later this month. There is a tremendous amount of excitement in its planning with the chosen bridal colour being red.  Rika, our Rooms Division Manager and wedding planner, is playing around with some visually stunning and beautiful ideas to make this day very special.
MEET THE TEAM
It’s congratulations to Shane van Niekerk, who has recently been promoted to head ranger. Shane has been with Amakhosi since June 2007 and has a great passion for the bush and animals alike, with a particular interest in birding and photography. Shane’s new position will see him leading a team of four rangers across all safari options available at the lodge, including frogging, walking and fishing safaris to name but a few.
We would also like to say welcome to Pieter Janse van Rensburg, our new Food and Beverage Manager who joined us towards the end of July.
