We are incredibly proud of our team at Ethos. We are a staff of eight - all with complementary skills making us a strong and diverse team. Passion and pride for doing great work for our clients is what we are all about.

Alison WhitfieldAlison Whitfield is the Founder and the Managing Director of Ethos Marketing®. Alison, a native South African who has now made England her home, has a passion for her home continent which is matched only by her wealth of knowledge. Having started her career in hospitality in South Africa, working in both large hotel chains and family run guest houses followed by a spell within retail travel, Alison moved into promoting South Africa as a tourist destination by joining South Africa Tourism. With South Africa Tourism she moved to London, which offered her the chance to develop her skills with the UK outbound tourism market. Finally Alison realized her ambition and started her own Representation Company in 1994. Alison developed strong relationships with the travel trade and the UK press which have continued to grow and benefit the Ethos Marketing® client base. Her devotion to Africa is highlighted by the fact that she was Chairman of SATOA (Southern Africa Travel Organisers Association) for eight years. Alison continues to head up PR at Ethos which runs side by side with her role managing the day to day running of the company and, with Amanda, strategically drives the success of the company and their clients in the UK marketplace.

Amanda EnglandAmanda England is the Sales and Marketing Director and Co-owner of Ethos Marketing®. Amanda joined the company in 2002 to continue to develop an already successful and established career within luxury leisure travel. Amanda started her career in hospitality, working within the UK domestic conferencing market before moving to Hyatt Hotels & Resorts UK Regional office. Here Amanda built and maintained her extensive network of contacts within the UK outbound leisure market before moving onto Limited Edition by Virgin. Working with Sir Richard Branson’s super deluxe hotel group honed Amandas’ sales skills and added to it the foundations for strategic brand awareness. Amanda has developed a strong knowledge and love for Africa as well as an excellent network of sales and marketing contacts and an impressive sales database. Amanda heads up the Sales & Marketing at Ethos for the Ethos client base and, with Alison, strategically drives the success of the company and their clients in the UK marketplace.

Claire Roadley our PR & Marketing Manager, joined Ethos Marketing® in 2003, straight from her home in South Africa. Claire was aware of Ethos Marketing® through their reputation in the South African travel trade. When she was looking to move to the UK, she hoped to secure a position within the company. Ethos were expanding and looking for a dedicated PR & marketing member of the team, ideally someone with that all important knowledge of Africa. Claire was a perfect fit. She was already very experienced within the hospitality industry, having worked on a number of different tourism based products, including game lodges, in South Africa. Through her on-the-job training with Ethos, she has developed a network of UK press and brand marketing contacts to marry up with her extensive database of South African trade contacts. Claire is now responsible for all of the day to day PR and Brand Marketing contact and development for the Ethos Marketing® clientbase.

Sue Rothwell is our Business Development Manager. Sue was born and brought up in Kenya before moving to the UK. Her belief in Africa as a holiday destination eventually led her into a career within travel, and working for Ethos Marketing®. Sue joined the company in 2003. Sue is an accomplished sales woman with a wealth of contacts within the UK travel industry, particularly within the Africa specialist niche of the marketplace. Sue has travelled extensively. In Africa she has gained valuable first hand knowledge of the Ethos client base. Sue, in her Business Development role, has proactively built a very successful key account database that covers UK tour operators, business travel agents and conference and incentive houses.

Lynn Ballard joined Ethos Marketing® at the end of 2004. As Ethos grew, the need for a strong and efficient Office Administrator became more and more apparent. Lynn has a very established background in office administration across a variety of industries. Most recently this was in the office of a serving Member of Parliament. She brought to Ethos a structure and a determination that ensured that the high standards that people had come to expect from Ethos were maintained. Lynn has also started her journey through Africa, gaining product knowledge to date on our clients in Mozambique and South Africa. Lynn is responsible for the day to day running of the office, which encompasses effective database management, dissemination of information and sales support for the managers.


Julie Proctor, a native South African, moved to the UK in early 2008, joining Ethos Marketing® as Sales Manager in the September.  Julie brings to Ethos Marketing® a wealth of experience in the travel industry as well as a passion and knowledge of South Africa.  Julie has extensive knowledge of South Africa as she has lived and worked in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg and through her love of the country as well as her work has travelled extensively throughout her vast homeland.
Julie’s 17 years experience of Sales and Key Account Management within various sectors of the tourism market is a great asset to Ethos Marketing® as she handles a key account base of travel trade partners in her role as Sales Manager for the company.

Kevin Keating, our Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator, joined Ethos Marketing® in 2007. Kevin’s role is to support the Sales, Marketing and PR Team, enabling them to develop their clientbases whilst he ensures that their needs and expectations are met from an office support perspective. Kevin experienced the African continent whilst visiting friends in Malawi and Zambia and that fuelled his desire to work more closely with Africa if given the opportunity. During his first year at Ethos, Kevin was also able to travel to both Kenya and South Africa, ensuring an even greater knowledge base. Kevin has a strong background in administrative sales support roles which bring strength and balance to a team that already excels in relationship building. Kevin is an intregal part of the Ethos sales team and his strong knowledge of the Ethos account base ensures a seamless approach to our relationship management.

Nik Butler joined Ethos Marketing® at the end of 2000 as our IT Consultant. Nik has a passion for ensuring that companies such as Ethos Marketing® have the ability to operate very sophisticated networked systems similar to a large organisation but within small company budgets! Nik is responsible for ensuring that wherever possible we are at the cutting edge of new technologies in all that we strive to do. He has set up a networked computer system which extends to home office setups reflecting the office environment as well as overseas remote set ups to enable email access. Our IT environment is predominantly open-source software which ensures minimal down time, minimal viruses and minimal expenditure. This has been a crucial part of ensuring the smooth running of Ethos Marketing®.

Charlie, The Office Dogs Body, has been with Ethos since he was 10 weeks old and he can sometimes be found greeting our visitors. If you call at our offices, you too may receive his friendly welcome! Charlie’s main responsibilities include emptying the bins and security.
